I barely keep samples of my first works, as I used to give them away as gifts: so many got lost while other mysteriously ‘vanished’. Sometimes I meet people I haven’t met before, people who own one of my works. If it happens, I’d rather not ask questions. I presume I made these side views of an outstanding Boeing 247 in 1987 or in 1988. I remember the drawings were meant to illustrate an issue of the magazine Modelismo & Historia, so I was bound to adjust to the page template and layout and I have to do my best so these drawings would be achieved as quickly as possible. When someone orders a painting or a drawing in order to illustrate the cover of a book it is always a pleasure and, at the same time, a matter of pride: a kind a work that will last forever! I enthusiastically accepted the assignment: an oil painting for the cover of a book written by my friend Michel Lozares Sanchez. The author tells in full detail the history of the Douglas C-54 Skymaster on duty in the Spanish Air Force. He is an excellent modeller and an accurate researcher devoted to all matters related to aviation. I remember it well, I was eleven, twelve years old and sometimes I had enough money to buy small scale models Airfix Series 1 (in modelling shops or in the toys sections of big department stores). I knew nothing about Tiger Moth biplane but I could pick it if the illustration was the one that caught my eye. These were very simple kits which could be easily assembled during the afternoon and next these were turned into a toy, but quite a different toy because of they were super-detailed and because I had made them all by myself.   A few pieces got inevitably lost, sometimes these toys were forgotten as I had bought new ones but as their much pretty boxes seemed timeless, I stored them carefully.
