Domenico Gnoli

Domenico Gnoli

The untimely passing of Domenico Gnoli (1933-1970) has left all of us with “our mouths watering”. Nobody knows how far he could have reached this much original and refined Italian artist, pen-named “the golden boy” by the mass media. Painter, designer, stage designer, able to find the beauty in a button, a lapel or a collar.

The subjects of his paintings could be considered as pop- art, but as Gnoli was so elegant, classic and with a metaphysic touch he became also unique, a rare human being of the Italian art in the 20th century, just as Morandi or De Chirico, personal, innovative and, as the same time, attached to the sense of tradition.
